Horror films are designed to frighten and to invoke our hidden worst fears, often in a terrifying way. Ending with a shocking finale. Throughout the storyline, the genre enthrals and entertains the audience in a cathartic experience. Horror films feature a wide range of styles. From early classics such as Nosferatu all the way to todays CGI monsters and deranged humans. They're often combined with sci-fi when the menace or monster is related to a corruption of technology, or when Earth is thratened by aliens. The fantasy and supernatural film genres aren't usually synonymous with the horror genre.
