Character Types in a Horror Film

Stereotypical Horror Film Characters
 
 
 
The Killer
-majority of the killers are men but there are some females which add to the element of surprise to the audience
-frequently starts off mysterious but towards the middle or end of the film, their finally seen (a lot of the time in a mask)
-in the film to scare the audience & to kill the other characters
 
 
 
 


 
 
The Couple
                                                                                                                                                                       -constantly together
-go off together for sexual actions away from the group, making them vulnerable
-commonly die together or straight after each other
-couples are generally used in horror films to make the group more realistic & to attract audiences of a romantic side to the film
 
The Prankster


-tries to make many jokes throughout the film
-pretends he’s been killed to scare the audience but it’s a joke
-always dies & commonly the first, to show the audience that the film is scary & adds drama




The Last Girl

-Now classed a genre
-Begins in a group of both male and female
-A woman is the last victim in the story because it shows vulnerability and the fact that the majority of the antagonists are male, it shows his dominance against her
